Several of those classics are on <strong><em>\u2018Horace Andy \u2014 Showcase: Deluxe Edition\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, a compilation album released in September by Tad\u2019s International Record.<\/p>\n<p>The 22-song set contains vocal and dub versions of songs like <strong><em>\u2018Cus Cus\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>\u2018Money Money\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>\u2018Something on My Mind\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u2018Ain\u2019t no Sunshine\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>which Andy recorded during the 1970s. The songs on <strong><em>\u2018Showcase:\u00a0 Deluxe Edition\u2019<\/em><\/strong> are produced by Tad Dawkins, Joseph \u201cRanking Joe\u201d Jackson, Jah Screw and Osbourne \u201cKing Tubby\u201d Ruddock.<\/p>\n<p>Dawkins befriended the singer in the 1980s when he (Dawkins) operated a record store in New York City. At the time, Andy lived in Connecticut and was a regular visitor to the store.\u00a0 It was not long before he agreed to record songs with Dawkins, a former musician who was also emerging as a producer.<\/p>\n<p>Known for his patented falsetto, Horace Andy first came to prominence at Studio One in the early 1970s with songs like <strong><em>\u2018Skylarking\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>\u2018Just Say Who\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u2018See A Man\u2019s Face\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 After a lull during the 1980s, he enjoyed a resurgence during the late 1990s when some of his songs were sampled by Massive Attack, a group from Bristol, England.<\/p>\n<p>Dawkins recently decided to revisit the recording sessions he did with Andy in 1990, but with a fresh twist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe original released product didn&#8217;t include the versions, so the Deluxe includes drum and bass versions to the songs.
