Reggae and Dancehall legend Barrington Levy made a surprise appearance at a Brooklyn stop on Usher\u2019s\u00a0Past, Present & Future Tour<\/em><\/strong>. The September performance, which also featured Jadakiss, Swizz Beatz and Busta Rhymes, marked the final night of Usher\u2019s four sold-out shows at the Barclays Center.<\/p>\n

Levy, introduced by Swizz Beatz, entered the stage as\u00a0Bad Boyz<\/em><\/strong>, his hit collaboration with former rapper Shyne, played over speakers at the venue. He went on to deliver crowd-pleasing renditions of his hit songs,\u00a0Here I Come, Black Roses<\/em><\/strong>, and\u00a0Tell Them a Ready (Murderer).<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Reflecting on the night, the 60-year-old expressed his gratitude on Instagram: \u201cIt was a movie! Just want to say thanks to my brothers @usher @therealswizzz @bustarhymes @barringtonlevy411 @spliffstar_mrlewis @dangermental<\/em><\/strong>. I was so proud to take this to my city where I\u2019m from, Brooklyn! So much #Love #Powerful #hit #bigstepper #Brooklyn #platinumcamprecords.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barrington Levy is known for several other hit songs, including\u00a0Living Dangerously<\/em><\/strong>\u2014a collab with Bounty Killer,\u00a0Prison Oval Rock, Money Moves, She\u2019s Mine, Too Experienced, Shine Eye Girl, Collie Weed,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Work.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Born in 1964 in Clarendon, he formed the Mighty Multitude with his cousin Everton Dacres in his teenage years. The duo officially entered the music industry by working on sound systems and\u00a0recording their first single,\u00a0My Black Girl<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a01977. Levy went on to record his debut solo single,\u00a0A Long Time Since We Don\u2019t Have No Love<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0at age 14, and in 1984 teamed up with producer Jah Screw to record the hit\u00a0Under Mi Sensi<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0followed by\u00a0Here I Come<\/em>,\u00a0<\/strong>the title track for the album of the same name.<\/p>\n

The\u00a012-track\u00a0Here I Come\u00a0<\/em>album, which included songs such as\u00a0Vibes Is Right,\u00a0Real Thing,\u00a0Moonlight Lover<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0A Ya We Deh<\/em>,<\/strong>\u00a0earned him the Best Vocalist Award at Britain\u2019s Reggae Awards.\u00a0 His last album,\u00a0Acousticalevy<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(2015), earned him his first Grammy Award nomination for Best Reggae Album.<\/p>\n

In 2023,\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0ranked Levy at number 119 on its list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.\u00a0 Barrington Levy is the second Jamaican artist to appear on Usher\u2019s latest tour. At a stop in Canada earlier this month, Dancehall artist\u00a0Masicka was introduced on stage by Kardinal Offishall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Past Present & Future Tour<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0adds to an already stellar year for Usher.
