She produced the project which was released by her Freemind Music on May 10.<\/p>\n<p>While she produced three of her last four albums, Etana said overseeing a \u2018riddim\u2019 compilation is entirely different as the producer usually selects the artists, they believe can do the beat justice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRiddim albums keep the music moving and keep the culture of reggae music and dancehall strong,\u201d she noted, adding that key ingredients of a good riddim\u2019 are \u201cGreat and talented musicians, good engineer, quality sound, good vibes and popular artists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Etana leads the cast of popular artists on <strong><em>\u201cFreemind Riddim\u201d<\/em><\/strong> with <strong><em>\u201cGrateful\u201d<\/em><\/strong>. Lutan Fyah <strong><em>\u201cWork &amp; Play\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, Richie Spice <strong><em>\u201cLife Goes On\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, Warrior King <strong><em>\u201cRagga Ragga\u201d<\/em><\/strong> and Ginjah <strong><em>\u201cComing Around\u201d<\/em><\/strong> are also featured.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the emerging acts, and their songs, on the album are Greg Gutty <strong><em>\u201cHey Darling\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, Samini <strong><em>\u201cHoliday\u201d<\/em><\/strong> and I Noah <strong><em>\u201cFree Your Mind\u201d<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Etana, whose hit songs include <strong><em>\u201cRoots\u201d<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u201cI Rise\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, said she decided to become more involved in producing her music after splitting with VP Records, the Queens, New York company that distributed several of her albums.<\/p>\n<p>She co-produced and produced her Grammy-nominated albums, <strong><em>\u201cReggae Forever\u201d<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u201cPamoja\u201d<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Riddims have been the lifeblood of reggae-dancehall music for over 50 years. It helped put foundation labels like Treasure Isle and Studio One on the map during the 1960s.
