This time around, he covers Giant\u2019s \u2018<strong><em>I\u2019ll See You in my Dreams\u2019<\/em><\/strong> as <strong><em>\u2018I\u2019ll See U in my Dreams\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, which he co-produced with longtime collaborator Rudy Valentino.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, they produced <strong><em>\u2018Night by Night\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, Kastick\u2019s reggae-rock version of the Steely Dan standard. That track marked Kastick\u2019s debut on lead vocals.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with this column, the veteran drummer said he always wanted to do a version of <strong><em>\u2018I\u2019ll See You in my Dreams\u2019<\/em><\/strong> which features guitarist Dan Huff on vocals. The original peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1989.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a song I fell in love with from 1990 when I came to Kingston to join 809 Band an\u2019 heard it for di first time. There\u2019s something \u2018bout it dat jus\u2019 touch mi, an\u2019 34 years later di original still sound like it could come out next year,\u201d Kastick explained.<\/p>\n<p>He and Valentino, an American guitarist, have been production partners for many years. They co-produced <strong><em>\u2018Hideaway\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, a big hit for Tessanne Chin in 2010.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u2018I\u2019ll See U in my Dreams\u2019<\/em><\/strong> is expected to be on an album of reggae-rock covers of classic rock songs produced by Kastick and Valentino. That project is scheduled for release this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Since leaving the 809 Band, Kastick has toured with several high-profile acts including Maxi Priest and Big Mountain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paul Kastick is back with another reggae spin on a classic rock song.
