For over 50 years, Glen Washington has hit the stage as a musician and artist. Along the way, he has recorded countless songs, several of them topping reggae charts around the world.<\/p>\n
The durable singer, best known for songs like \u2018Kindness for Weakness\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and \u2018Jah Glory\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, has no plans to slow down. He is scheduled to perform at the One Love the Experience show on April 13 at Queen\u2019s Park Savannah in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.\u00a0 It will be his first time working in the twin-island republic since 2017.<\/p>\n \u201cThe people are receptive; I always have fun there \u2018cause there\u2019s good vibes. Jamaicans more critical, if a Jamaican crowd like yuh, there\u2019s no problem,\u201d said Washington, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) on March 22 in Florida.\u00a0 He is grateful for the recognition.<\/p>\n \u201cA lotta people mus\u2019 understand that wi don\u2019t jus\u2019 work for di money, but yuh have to enjoy what yuh doing. If yuh don\u2019t enjoy what you\u2019re doing, di people are going to see it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Washington started his career with the C35 Incorporated Band, replacing Joseph Hill (later of Culture) on drums. He doubled as a singer and drummer for most of his career, working in bands in Jamaica, Detroit, Chicago, and New York City.<\/p>\n His breakthrough work is \u2018Brother to Brother\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, a 1999 album produced by Clement \u201cCoxsone\u201d Dodd.<\/p>\n Glen Washington is also scheduled to perform on the Colin \u201cIley Dread\u201d Levy-produced Wonderful Vibrations Mother\u2019s Day concert on May 12 at Rebel Toronto in Toronto.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" For over 50 years, Glen Washington has hit the stage as a musician and artist.
