She ventures into pop with <strong><em>\u2018Suga\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, her latest single.\u00a0 Released in early November, it is co-produced by EchoSlim, Jeilah and Kashief Lindo for the Musically Unifying label.<\/p>\n<p>Shavanique, who has also recorded as Shava A, said, &#8220;Suga has a crossover lovers rock, R&amp;B, soul feel which is something a bit different from my previous singles.\u201d\u00a0 Trodding uncharted territory is not new for the artist, who is from Portmore, Jamaica. The daughter of roots singer Admiral Tibet, she was raised hearing a blend of conscious and hardcore dancehall music.<\/p>\n<p>That diversity prepared her for a recording career that launched in 2013. It has so far yielded a number of songs which also include <strong><em>\u2018Island Girl\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u2018Fire Woman\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019m a singer who doesn\u2019t box myself into a particular genre.
