His latest song is the self-produced \u2018Give Thanks\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, released on June 18, celebrated globally as Father\u2019s Day.\u00a0 \u2018Give Thanks\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>features drummer Kirk Bennett, bassist Donald Dennis of the Firehouse Crew and keyboardist Robbie Lyn.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a special song \u2018cause wi have to big up di fathers who get a lotta beating, a lot of which dem don\u2019t deserve. So, dis is a big up to all di great fathers including my old man,\u201d said Sampalue.\u00a0 His \u2018old man\u2019 is Phil Pratt, a successful producer whose catalog includes songs such as \u2018Talk About Love\u2019<\/em><\/strong> by Pat Kelly and John Holt\u2019s \u2018Strange Things\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n Sampalue got into music production in 1989 with his Diamond Rush label, which is noted for breaking a saucy deejay named Lady Saw. Her songs for Diamond Rush include \u2018Find A Good Man\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and \u2018Give me A Reason\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n Eager to emulate his heroes like Dennis Brown, Sampalue stepped up his recording career in recent years. It culminated with the release of his first album, \u2018Straight Outta Hannah Town\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, in 2019.
