When deejay Troy Bronxz was approached to contribute a song to the <\/span>\u2018My Turn Riddim\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b>, he had no difficulty coming up with lyrics to <\/span>\u2018Ex Man\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b>, which he says is based on personal experience. The song is about a man in an unfulfilling relationship with a woman whose expensive needs he refuses to fund.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYes, it\u2019s based on a personal experience, but I have seen a lot of people leaving their relationships because of various reasons, but mainly more for peace of mind and self-preservation,\u201d said Troy Bronxz.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Born in Kingston, the deejay\u2019s rootsy, hardcore delivery was inspired by Shabba Ranks and developed on sound systems such as Survivor International in St Catherine where he spent much of his formative years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By the time he made his recording debut in the early 1990s with the song like <\/span>\u2018Mr Bigman\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b>, Troy Bronxz was a seasoned campaigner. He gives a nod to his years on the St Catherine sound system circuit for putting the edge on his tone.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWorking on sound systems has been very instrumental in my career. Sound system has given me the opportunity to hone my skills, gave me the confidence to interact and hold the attention of an audience,\u201d he said. \u201cPerforming on \u2018sounds\u2019 has helped with my lyrics writing, being able to create lyrics at any given moment and creating and developing my style.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Several of his songs, including <\/span>\u2018Leave\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>\u2018State of Mind\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b> and <\/span>\u2018Life Nice\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b> were produced by Akeebu Records.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018My Turn\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b> is produced by singer Mark \u201cTony Anthony\u201d Bennett, a veteran of the Canadian reggae scene. It is a joint release by his Phylani Music label and Tasjay Productions, which are both based in Toronto.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
