Canadian singer\/actress Megan Soo will be in Jamaica this month to promote <\/span>‘Michigesso’<\/span><\/i><\/b>, her song with deejay\/actor E-Dee. It will be her first time in the country, but she is no stranger to its culture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI grew up in Toronto with so much Jamaican culture \u2014 in our slang, music and food, so I\u2019m very excited to be in the place where it all comes from!\u201d she exclaimed.\u00a0 Soo will shoot the video for <\/span>\u2018Don\u2019t Lie\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b>, another of her new songs. Her album, <\/span>\u2018K-Hall\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b>, is scheduled for release late this year.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Born in Toronto, Soo\u2019s biracial heritage is a reflection of her hometown\u2019s diversity. Her parents are Korean\/Trinidadian; she has spent extended periods in Trinidad and Tobago which has helped Soo appreciate Caribbean culture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up in Trinidad for almost 10 years and then in Scarborough, there\u2019s a huge Caribbean community so I always felt at home and connected but moving to LA \/West Coast made me realize we need to bring more Caribbean culture out here,\u201d she said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Los Angeles is where E-Dee, a Jamaican, is based. He has made a name there appearing in movies like <\/span>\u2018Out the Gate\u2019<\/span><\/b> and<\/span> \u2018Mother in Law\u2019<\/span><\/b>, as well as releasing three albums.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018K-Hall\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b> is a hybrid sound that defines Megan Soo\u2019s sound which calls on some of her biggest influences which include Machel Montano, Koffee and Major Lazer.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s been a long process in the making but I\u2019ve finally found the sound I\u2019m going for and I\u2019m ready to release it to the world,\u201d she said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
