Recording artiste Nastic believes that reggae music should be given more airtime on local radio stations for the genre to remain viable.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI believe the government should put some kind of policy in place to make sure that radio stations give more airtime to reggae music. If you listen to most of the popular radio stations in Jamaica daily, you will realize that each of them plays only a small amount of reggae music. All the stations except for the ones that only play Jamaican music give more airtime to other genres such as Hip Hop, Soca, and R&B.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cI believe that this is very unfair, especially given the fact that reggae music is one the most popular genre of music worldwide. Everywhere you go in the world reggae music is known but it seems as if we trying to kill it in the place where it was created which makes no sense to me,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The St. Thomas-based artiste who lists Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Garnet Silk among his musical influences is currently promoting a new single titled <\/span>\u2018Rise Up\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Produced by New York-based producer Fitzroy Hamilton for King Hamilton Production <\/span>\u2018Rise Up\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b> was released to all digital download and streaming platforms in April.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since then, the song has been receiving strong rotation in several territories including Jamaica, the US, England, and Europe.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis song has a positive message that people from all levels of society can relate to and I am getting a lot of positive feedback about it from music lovers all over the world.
