Now, Jah\u2019Mila and the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Canada are bringing the magic of reggae to Toronto and Brampton with their concert series <strong>\u2018Reggae Roots\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Jah\u2019Mila is a Jamaican-born vocalist who found her musical footing in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her father, Earl \u201cChinna\u201d Smith, is a legendary reggae guitarist who played with Bob Marley and the Wailers. Together, they seamlessly integrate reggae classics like <strong><em>\u2018No Woman, No Cry\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u2018Bam Bam\u2019<\/em><\/strong> with orchestral accompaniment.<\/p>\n<p>The concert series is designed to be more welcoming to neurodiverse patrons, including those on the autism spectrum, those with sensory and communication disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, dementia, or those who simply want a more informal concert experience. Her 2020 song <strong><em>\u2018Chant Their Names\u2019<\/em><\/strong> was a powerful critique of police brutality, and it struck a chord with audiences around the world. Her performances are not just entertainment; they are a call to action.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, Jah\u2019Mila performed a tribute to Nina Simone with Symphony Nova Scotia.
