VP Records has offices in New York City, Miami, London, Kingston, Tokyo,\u00a0<a title=\"Johannesburg\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Johannesburg\">Johannesburg<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, the label has established a presence in\u00a0Toronto,\u00a0Australia\u00a0and\u00a0New Zealand.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Meschino_2-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>The VP Records label was founded in\u00a0<a title=\"1979 in music\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1979_in_music\">1979<\/a>\u00a0by the late\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Vincent &quot;Randy&quot; Chin\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vincent_%22Randy%22_Chin\">Vincent &#8220;Randy&#8221; Chin<\/a>\u00a0and his wife Patricia Chin, who owned the Randy&#8217;s Records store in\u00a0<a title=\"Kingston, Jamaica\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kingston,_Jamaica\">Kingston, Jamaica<\/a>\u00a0(as seen in the 1978 film\u00a0<i><a title=\"Rockers (1978 film)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rockers_(1978_film)\">Rockers<\/a><\/i>), as well as the Studio 17 recording studios.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Wartofsky_3-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0In the mid-1970s, the Chins moved to\u00a0<a title=\"New York City\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_York_City\">New York City<\/a>, setting up a record store in\u00a0<a title=\"Brooklyn\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brooklyn\">Brooklyn<\/a>\u00a0called\u00a0<i>VP Records<\/i>\u00a0in 1975, from which they sold and distributed records.
