{"id":3970,"date":"2022-07-28T16:27:36","date_gmt":"2022-07-28T16:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sandbox.reggaenorthca.com\/?p=3970"},"modified":"2022-07-28T16:58:53","modified_gmt":"2022-07-28T16:58:53","slug":"the-tennors-have-the-antidote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sandbox.reggaenorthca.com\/?p=3970","title":{"rendered":"The Tennors have The Antidote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of rocksteady\/reggae&#8217;s enduring groups, The Tennors made their reputation by recording catchy dance songs like <strong><em>\u2018Pressure and Slide\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>and\u00a0<strong><em>\u2018Ride yu Donkey\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Fifty-six years after the trio formed, they stay true to form with <strong><em>\u2018The Antidote\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, their latest song.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, <strong><em>\u2018The Antidote\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>is driven by the beat of <strong><em>\u2018Pressure and Slide\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, the classic Studio One track that announced The Tennors in 1967.\u00a0 According to Clive Murphy, who started the group, that rhythm has a timeless infectiousness.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201c\u2018Pressure And Slide\u2019<\/em><\/strong> is one of those rhythms that once you hear it, you want to dance. It came at a time just when the rocksteady was at its height; it&#8217;s also a very unusual track, well over 100 songs recorded on that rhythm,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong><em>\u2018The Antidote\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, The Tennors express longing for a voluptuous woman. It is the precursor to their new album, tentatively titled <strong><em>\u2018Whodunit\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, scheduled for release in September.\u00a0 Murphy is the sole original member of The Tennors.
