He began playing guitar aged 13 and also played the\u00a0<a title=\"Tuba\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tuba\">tuba<\/a>\u00a0at school.<\/p>\n<p>After listening to music by\u00a0<a title=\"Jimi Hendrix\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jimi_Hendrix\">Jimi Hendrix<\/a>, Harvey joined the Toronto funk and soul band\u00a0Crack of Dawn, which was signed by\u00a0<a title=\"Columbia Records\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Columbia_Records\">Columbia Records<\/a> and had hits in Canada with &#8220;It&#8217;s Alright&#8221; and &#8220;Keep the Faith&#8221; in 1976.\u00a0In the mid-1970s, Harvey visited Jamaica regularly and recorded as a member of\u00a0Bunny Lee&#8217;s house band The Aggrovators,<sup id=\"cite_ref-Sullivan2013_4-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0playing on albums such as\u00a0<i>Kaya Dub<\/i>,\u00a0Jackie Mittoo&#8217;s\u00a0<i>In Cold Blood<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>King in the Arena<\/i>, and also played guitar on\u00a0Willi Williams&#8217;\u00a0<i>Messenger Man<\/i>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-RA_5-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carl_Harvey\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carl Harvey\u00a0(born 1 October 1958) is a\u00a0Jamaican\u00a0born Canadian\u00a0guitarist\u00a0and\u00a0record producer who recorded as a member of\u00a0Crack of Dawn\u00a0and\u00a0The Aggrovators\u00a0in the 1970s, and later became guitarist for\u00a0Toots &amp; the Maytals.
