He marks that milestone with <strong><em>\u2018I Need You\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, his 11<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0album which will be released on May 25.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u2018I Need You\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>contains 11 songs, 10 of which are originals written by the South Florida-based singer. Rollen co-produced the set with keyboardist Jason Farmer for his Surface Records.\u00a0 Although he started his recording career in 1967 as a harmony singer on <strong><em>\u2018Summertime Rock\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, a song by The Progressions, Rollen is determined to keep fresh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI strive to create and grow everyday by formulating new chord progressions and vocal phrases to use in my music. Now, I must give credit where credit is due because I\u2019ve been blessed to work with great musicians like Grammy-winning producer\/musician Jason \u2018J-Vibe\u2019 Farmer, Dwayne Hoilett, Eugene Gray, Jerry Johnson, Howard Perry, Cecil Hardy, and Richie Walters just to name a few,\u201d said Rollen.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u2018I Need You\u2019<\/em><\/strong> contains <strong><em>\u2018Never Knew Love till You\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u2018Close to You\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, two big hits in South Florida and New York reggae circles last year. It is his first album since <strong><em>\u2018Why Worry\u2019<\/em><\/strong> in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe concept of this album is a little different than the previous in that we sought to be inclusive. We sought to meet people where they are, touching their lives meaningfully and in a special way, as we share light and love with them,\u201d he reasoned.<\/p>\n<p>An ordained minister of religion, Rollen\u2019s solo career started in 1968 with the Keith Hudson-produced song, <strong><em>\u2018Whisper A Little Prayer\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A true veteran of Jamaica\u2019s music business, Audley Rollen celebrates his 55th\u00a0anniversary as an artist in 2022.
