{"id":3323,"date":"2022-04-28T03:17:47","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T03:17:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sandbox.reggaenorthca.com\/?p=3323"},"modified":"2022-05-08T11:27:15","modified_gmt":"2022-05-08T11:27:15","slug":"reggae-crooner-sanchez-loses-mother-to-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sandbox.reggaenorthca.com\/?p=3323","title":{"rendered":"REGGAE Crooner Sanchez Loses Mother to Cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>REGGAE singer Sanchez is overwhelmed with sadness as he mourns the loss of his mother, Bridget Anestine Ivey, who succumbed to cervical cancer <\/strong>early on the morning of April 19<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In an interview with the\u00a0<strong>Jamaica Observer<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Splash, <\/strong>Sanchez\u2019s wife Monica Jackson said the singer has been inconsolable.\u00a0 \u201cHe\u2019s not taking it well at all. All the condolence messages that people are sending, all the voice notes, I\u2019m reading them to him, and he just keeps crying so I just stopped reading them altogether\u2019\u2019, she said. \u201cRight now, as we speak, he\u2019s sleeping. He cried himself to sleep. He isn\u2019t trying to avoid the messages, but he isn\u2019t coping well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ivey, who was 74, died at home in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada surrounded by her four other children, except Sanchez who resides in Jamaica, and her grandchildren. Originally from Stony Hill in St Andrew, she emigrated to Canada in 1986.<\/p>\n<p>Monica Jackson said the elderly woman was ailing for some time.\u00a0 \u201cShe did chemotherapy and everything was fine, but in February it came back aggressively, and they gave her a specific time span to live but she went before that,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>Sanchez\u2019s wife said his mother\u2019s Christian influence motivated him to produce gospel tracks. \u201cShe\u2019s an evangelist and all children were brought up in church at Rehoboth Apostolic Church in Independence City (Portmore),\u201d she said. \u201cHe was in the junior choir at church and then the senior choir.\u201d Jackson added that Sanchez\u2019s cover of\u00a0\u2018<em><strong>Amazing Grace\u2019<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0was his mother\u2019s favourite.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REGGAE singer Sanchez is overwhelmed with sadness as he mourns the loss of his mother, Bridget Anestine Ivey, who succumbed to cervical cancer early on the morning of April 19.
