Trench Town born and bred, Shain Sheldon \u201cIffa Cush\u201d Christie was raised in that fabled Jamaican community hearing about the exploits of The Wailers, Alton Ellis and Delroy Wilson.<\/p>\n
He sought a career in music 10 years ago and has helped marketed the songs of fellow Trench Town natives like singer Dahvid Slur. Iffa Cush makes his debut as a producer with the Kaya Blazing Riddim, a four-song EP. It was released in February by his company, Iffa Cush Muzik Group.<\/p>\n
According to him, his objective as a producer is to \u201cput homegrown reggae on top.\u201d The songs on \u2018Kaya Riddim\u2019<\/em><\/strong> are \u2018Deal With it <\/em>Proppa\u2019<\/strong> by J Written, \u2018Order\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>(Inezi), Steamaz (Hardio) and \u2018Ganja\u2019<\/em><\/strong> by Bingi.<\/p>\n \u201cI was playing the \u2018riddim\u2019 in the studio and smoking a spliff and the name just came to me. I said to myself, \u2018Kaya represents herbs\u2019, then I remembered Bob (Marley) did an album called \u2018Kaya\u2019<\/em><\/strong>,\u201d\u00a0Iffa Cush recalled. \u201cBeing a new age rockers reggae producer from Trench Town, I believe this is a great contribution to the reggae legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n It took one year to complete the \u2018Kaya Riddim\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.
