He formed a\u00a0band\u00a0called the Mighty Multitude, with his cousin, Everton Dacres; the pair released &#8220;My Black Girl&#8221; in 1977.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Greene_1-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><sup id=\"cite_ref-Thompson_2-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0Levy established his\u00a0solo\u00a0career the next year with &#8220;A Long Time Since We Don&#8217;t Have No Love&#8221;;<sup id=\"cite_ref-Thompson_2-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0though the\u00a0single\u00a0was a failure, the fourteen-year-old was a popular performer at Jamaican dancehalls.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Moskowitz_3-0\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0In an August 2014 interview with\u00a0<a title=\"Midnight Raver\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Midnight_Raver\">Midnight Raver<\/a>, record producer Delroy Wright revealed that it was his brother\u00a0<a title=\"Hyman Wright\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hyman_Wright\">Hyman Wright<\/a>\u00a0who first met Barrington Levy in the mid-1970s through Wade &#8220;Trinity&#8221; Brammer. According to Delroy Wright, Hyman Wright recorded a host of tracks with Barrington Levy prior to introducing him to\u00a0<a title=\"Henry &quot;Junjo&quot; Lawes\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Henry_%22Junjo%22_Lawes\">Henry &#8220;Junjo&#8221; Lawes<\/a>. These tracks would eventually appear on the album\u00a0<i>Bounty Hunter<\/i>, which was released on the Jah Life record label.<sup id=\"cite_ref-4\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0Both\u00a0record producers\u00a0recorded several singles with the\u00a0Roots Radics, including &#8220;Al Yah We Deh&#8221;, &#8220;Looking My Love&#8221;, &#8220;Englishman&#8221;, &#8220;Skylarking&#8221;, &#8220;Wedding Ring Aside&#8221; and &#8220;Collie Weed&#8221;, all of which became\u00a0hits\u00a0and established Levy&#8217;s career. Levy&#8217;s next few singles were similarly successful, including &#8220;Shine Eye Girl&#8221;, &#8220;Wicked Intention&#8221;, &#8220;Jumpy Girl&#8221;, &#8220;Disco Music&#8221;, &#8220;Reggae Music&#8221;, &#8220;Never Tear My Love Apart&#8221;, &#8220;Jah&#8221;, &#8220;You Made Me So Happy&#8221; and &#8220;When You&#8217;re Young and in Love&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barrington_Levy\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Levy was born in\u00a0Clarendon, Jamaica.
