He was awarded the\u00a0<a title=\"Musgrave Medal\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Musgrave_Medal\">Musgrave Medal<\/a> by the Jamaican government in 1993 in recognition of his services to music. Born in\u00a0<a title=\"Kingston, Jamaica\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kingston,_Jamaica\">Kingston, Jamaica<\/a>, Fraser started to play the\u00a0<a title=\"Clarinet\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Clarinet\">clarinet<\/a>\u00a0at the age of 12. Around this time he met Ronald &#8220;Nambo&#8221; Robinson and Junior &#8220;Chico&#8221; Chin at a youthclub in\u00a0<a title=\"Kingston, Jamaica\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kingston,_Jamaica\">Jones Town<\/a>\u00a0and the three boys would eventually form a brass section.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Larkin_2-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0Fraser took up saxophone at the age of 15.<sup id=\"cite_ref-allmusic_1-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0The trio became the foremost horn section in Jamaica in the 1980s.
