The Recording Academy have revealed the nominees for the best reggae album at the 64th GRAMMY Awards show. Six reggae albums made it to the final round and the winner will be awarded on January 31st<\/sup>, 2022, in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The best album nominees are Etana with her album \u2018Pamoja\u2019<\/em><\/strong> on the Freemind Music label,<\/a> Gramps Morgan \u2018Positive Vibration\u2019<\/em><\/strong> Halo Entertainment Group, Sean Paul\u2014‘Live N Living\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u2014Dutty Rock Productions, Jesse Royal\u2014\u2018Royal\u2019<\/em><\/strong> \u2013Easy Star Records, Soja\u2014‘Beauty in Silence\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u2014ATO Records.<\/p>\n

\u2018Pamoja\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>is Etana\u2019s second Grammy nomination.<\/strong> She was first nominated in 2019 for\u00a0her album \u2018Reggae Forever\u2019<\/em><\/strong>. \u2018Pamoja\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>was released on June 25 and has 15 tracks.<\/p>\n

Gramps Morgan is a member of Morgan Heritage which won the Best Reggae Album Grammy in 2016 for\u00a0\u2018Strictly Roots\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0\u2018Positive Vibrations\u2019<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>is Gramps’ first solo nomination. It has 15 tracks and was released via Halo Entertainment on July 23.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u2018Live N Livin\u2019<\/em><\/strong> is\u00a0<\/em>Sean Paul\u2019s sixth nomination. He won in 2004 for the multi-platinum\u00a0\u2018Dutty Rock\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>while his previous nominations were for\u00a0\u2018The Trinity\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(2006),\u00a0\u2018Imperial Blaze\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(2010),\u00a0\u2018Tomahawk Technique\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(2013) and\u00a0\u2018Full Frequency\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(2015). \u2018Live N Livin\u2019<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0peaked at number 10 on the\u00a0Billboard<\/em>\u00a0Reggae Albums Chart in March. The album features collaborations with Bugle, Chi Ching Ching, Masicka, Govana, Serani, Buju Banton, Agent Sasco, Damian Marley, Mavado, Stonebwoy, Masicka and Skillibeng, among others.<\/p>\n

\u2018Beauty in the Silence\u2019<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is the third nomination for SOJA, one of the top-selling reggae acts in North America. Previous nods were for \u2018Live in Virginia\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>in 2017\u00a0<\/em>and \u2018Amid the Noise and The Haste\u2019<\/em><\/strong> in 2015.<\/em> \u2018Beauty in the Silence\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0was released September 13 by ATO Records.<\/p>\n

\u2018Royal\u2019<\/em><\/strong> is Jesse Royal\u2019s first nomination. The album was released June 4 by New York-based Easy Star Records, the 14-track set has collaborations with Vybz Kartel, Protoje, Stonebwoy, Runkus, Samory-I and Kumar.<\/p>\n

\u2018Ten\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>is Spice\u2019s first full-length album. It was released by VP Records on August 6 and peaked at number six on the\u00a0Billboard<\/em>\u00a0Reggae Albums Chart. \u2018Ten\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>was executive-produced by Shaggy, who also contributed as a producer, along with Dwayne \u201cSupa Dups\u201d Chin-Quee, Stephen McGregor and Tony Kelly.<\/p>\n

To be eligible for nominations for the 64th<\/sup> Annual\u00a0Grammy Awards, recordings must be released between Sept. 1, 2020, and Sept. 30, 2021. Recordings must be for sale commercially via general distribution or made available as a digital recording, either for sale or via a recognized streaming service.
