Titled <strong><em>Freedom<\/em><\/strong>, the set is scheduled for release in September.<\/p>\n<p>The six members, which includes founding member Quino McWhinney, are currently at Anchor Recording Studio in Kingston working with producer Delroy \u201cFatta\u201d Pottinger. Quino, who plays guitar and handles lead vocals, said the band is excited about recording and releasing their first album since 2016\u2019s <strong><em>Perfect Summer<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we are bringing material that is perfect for the times, and I think Fatta\u2019s production skills are perfect for where we are right now,\u201d he said. Pottinger has been in-house engineer at Anchor for many years. He has worked on monster hit songs such as <strong><em>She\u2019s Still Loving Me <\/em><\/strong>by Morgan Heritage and <strong><em>Say Yeah<\/em><\/strong> by Michael Franti and Cherine Anderson. In the past five years, he has blossomed as a producer, releasing songs on his Phat Trax Records label by Capleton, Sizzla, George Nooks and Half Pint.<\/p>\n<p>Big Mountain formed in San Diego, California during the late 1980\u2019s. Their first album, <strong><em>California Reggae<\/em><\/strong>, was released in 1998; six years later, they entered the Billboard pop charts with <strong><em>Baby I Love Your Way<\/em><\/strong>, a reggae version of Peter Frampton\u2019s 1975 hit. The band\u2019s lineup also includes Quino\u2019s younger brother James on vocals and percussion; drummer Paul Kastick, guitarist Audley Chisholm, bassist Mike Ortiz and keyboardist Richard Campbell.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Big Mountain are in Jamaica recording songs for their twelfth album.
