Known offstage as Fitzgerald Haughton, the artist spent over 12 years working as a personal support worker (PSW) in Canada\u2019s healthcare system. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was among the many frontline workers who demonstrated resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication in caring for vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing from those firsthand experiences, Captain Love has also used his music to highlight urgent issues within nursing homes, channeling real-life challenges into songs that advocate for awareness and change.<\/p>\n<p>His musical style reflects a lifetime of diverse influences, including gospel, ska, folk, calypso, reggae, R&amp;B, soul, jazz, and pop. Growing up in Jamaica, he was inspired by legendary artists such as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, and Frank Sinatra. His musical foundation was further shaped by his brother Donald Haughton and friend Merrick Dyer, who taught him to play guitar.<\/p>\n<p>Captain Love\u2019s recording journey began in 1985 at Channel One Recording Studio in Kingston, Jamaica. Early in his career, he performed in Spanish Town, opening for notable reggae acts including Junior Reid, Tristan Palmer, and Half Pint.<\/p>\n<p>After migrating to Canada, he continued to pursue music while training for his healthcare career. Over the years, he has performed on numerous stages in Toronto and gained recognition both in Jamaica and Canada, notably with his 2016 single <strong><em>\u201cText Me.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With <strong><em>\u201cAfrica Arise\u201d<\/em><\/strong> now available on all major streaming and download platforms, Captain Love is reaching new audiences worldwide through digital channels and social media.
