Dutch prosecutors have asked the Court of Appeals to impose a 9.5-year prison sentence on the Jamaican artist for attempted murder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office on appeal demanded a prison sentence of 9.5 years for attempted murder against S. Alcock,\u201d a representative of the Netherlands Prosecution Service, told\u00a0<strong>DancehallMag<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Court of Appeals will issue a ruling in November.\u00a0 For several months, prosecutors have pressed their appeal against the acquittal of the singer\u2019s attempted murder charge in the initial trial. Jah Cure\u2019s lawyer has also appealed the attempted manslaughter conviction.<\/p>\n<p>Jah Cure, whose real name is Siccature Alcock, has been in pre-trial detention in Amsterdam since his 2022 conviction. He was sentenced to six years in prison for attempted manslaughter but was acquitted of the more serious attempted murder charge.<\/p>\n<p>Cure was convicted after he stabbed a Dutch concert promoter known as Nicardo \u2018Papa\u2019 Blake over unpaid performance fees in October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The trial judges had ruled that Jah Cure\u2019s actions were not a premeditated act of attempted murder, and he was acquitted of the more serious charge.<\/p>\n<p>Jah Cure rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with a string of hits, including\u00a0<strong>\u2018<em>Longing For\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(2005) and\u00a0<strong>\u2018<em>Love Is\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(2005)\u2014songs he later admitted were recorded illegally while serving time in prison in Jamaica for illegal possession of a firearm, rape, and robbery with aggravation\u2014and\u00a0<strong>\u2018<em>True Reflection (Behind These Prison Walls\u2019<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>(2007), which was officially produced under the prison\u2019s \u201cRehabilitation Through Music\u201d program.
