When it comes to reggae in Canada, few bands do it better than The Human Rights. Since its inception, the nine-piece outfit has remained true to its founding principles and remains one of the music scene true lions.<\/p>\n
On their new album\u00a0Reggae Strong, <\/em>which they\u00a0recorded with producer and former band member\u00a0Patric McGroarty, this album finds\u00a0The Human Rights\u00a0coming as close as they have yet to achieving a truly Canadian reggae sound. Reggae Strong<\/em> was mixed and mastered by renowned Canadian reggae artist and producer Dubmatix, and had some assistance from Toronto\u2019s\u00a0Ras Yunchie, Caddy Cad, Isax, and\u00a0Carol Brown.<\/p>\n The Human Rights\u2019 authentic sound is on full display with the album\u2019s first single\u00a0Peace Gun<\/em>\u00a0a song whose deep groove and powerful lyrics convey a timely message about the current state of the world. Also, check out the follow up instrumental\u00a0Peace Sax<\/em> featuring the versatile hornsman,\u00a0Isax. Lead Singer Treson gets to shine on the catchy and danceable Tell Me That You Love Me<\/em>, while other tracks such as the cover version of\u00a0Sly & Robbie\u2019s Red Hot, <\/em>which is a remake of Karl \u201cCannonball\u201d Bryan\u2019s Red<\/em> Ash<\/em> pay tribute to Toronto Reggae history. Reggae Strong is also dedicated to their keyboardist Bernie Pitter whose face graces the back of the record.<\/p>\n The Human Rights was formed in 2007 around one of Canada\u2019s most authentic Rasta artist and musician, Friendlyness. They\u00a0have developed a modern, high energy sound that blends Roots Reggae with jazz, funk and R&B influences, courtesy of a blazing three-piece horn section and the soulful lead vocals of JUNO nominee\u00a0Tr\u00e9son.<\/p>\n The Human Rights have performed at most of the major Toronto venues including Roy Thomson Hall, the Sound Academy and Harbourfront Centre, as well as major events across Canada. Their songs have become staples on Reggae radio shows and on CBC programs like Big City and Small World. Fans of the Trailer Park Boys will know them for their version of the Trailer Park Boys\u2019 theme song featured in the movie Don\u2019t Legalize It<\/em>.<\/p>\n On this new album\u00a0Reggae Strong<\/em>, The Human Rights\u00a0more than lived up to its expectation and have created their finest album to date, while once again proving reggae\u2019s ability to unite and inspire everyone struggling to get through tough times.
