That album,\u00a0\u2018<strong><em>Caught My Attention<\/em>,\u2019<\/strong> was released in February by\u00a0Dacosta\u00a0Muzic. But for a cover of Barrington Levy\u2019s\u00a0<strong>\u2018<em>Vice Versa Love,\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0the Atlanta-based Jamaican wrote all songs on the 14-piece set.<\/p>\n<p>Even then, he took some liberties with the 1993 single, which remains a showstopper for Levy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe one or two words were changed, and it wasn\u2019t done on a reggae beat before. It wasn\u2019t something that was even planned; I just heard the rhythm, and that was the song that came to me. I don\u2019t know why,\u201d said Kenne Blessin.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u2018Caught My Attention\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0was released seven years after\u00a0<strong><em>\u2018Get Up &amp; Go,\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0his first album. For the follow-up, he worked with Paul Frederick from the United States Virgin Islands, who also lives in Atlanta, and Dominic Gall from the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>There is a major creative difference between the albums.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor<em>\u00a0<strong>\u2018Caught My Attention<\/strong><\/em><strong>,\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0everything just flowed. There was no writer\u2019s block or any hiccups getting the words together. It was natural, most of the words were not even written down,\u201d Kenne Blessin explained.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Kingston but raised in St Thomas, he grew up on the songs of Bob Marley, Toots and The Maytals, Sizzla, Beenie Man and Snoop Dogg. While living in Antigua, where he played in a band, Kenne Blessin developed an appreciation for soca and rock music.<\/p>\n<p>The album contains ballads like\u00a0<strong><em>\u2018Falling for You\u2019<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<strong><em>\u2018Be with You,\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0as well as\u00a0<strong><em>\u2018My Love Will Never Die,\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>a reggae version of a soca track he recorded while living in Antigua.<\/p>\n<p>Kenne Blessin has also released one EP,\u00a0<strong><em>\u2018Millions,\u2019<\/em><\/strong> in 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A sporadic writer, singer Kenne Blessin made a big effort to compose most of the tracks on his second album.
