Bounty Killer<\/a>\u00a0has once again acknowledged Alkaline\u2019s talent but criticized his attitude, describing him as antisocial, ungrateful, and disrespectful to those who paved the way in Dancehall. Speaking with DJ Akademiks on his \u2018Off The Record\u2019<\/em><\/strong> podcast on Monday, Bounty described Alkaline as a misguided artist whose personality clashes with the values of the culture.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlkaline\u2026 is a great artist, man,\u201d the Warlord began. \u201cBut him is a stupid boy. He has no humanity and he\u2019s not social. He\u2019s antisocial.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Bounty conceded that at 31,\u00a0Alkaline<\/a>\u00a0was still young, he maintained that \u201che\u2019s acting stupid. But kudos to him, he\u2019s a great artist. Me have some Alkaline [songs] weh me like,\u201d before even singing a line from Alkaline\u2019s 2016 hit\u00a0\u2018<\/em><\/strong>Extra Lesson<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>.<\/p>\n

When AK asked if by \u201cstupid\u201d he meant Alkaline\u2019s musical subject matter, Bounty clarified: \u201cI\u2019m talking about personality, not artistry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bounty disagreed sharply when AK suggested that Alkaline might feel no need to acknowledge others because he achieved stardom on his own.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody nuh haffi help buss yuh.\u00a0 Nobody nuh buss me.\u00a0 Ah me buss miself.\u00a0 And me buss everybody.\u00a0 That nuh have nothing fi do with nothing,\u201d Bounty responded.\u00a0 \u201cPeople just do what they do and it works. Some people might have to get a little push or a little help.\u00a0 And then if nobody nuh help you fi buss, it nuh mean you nuh love people.\u201d<\/p>\n

When AK compared Alkaline to introverted hip-hop stars like NBAYoungBoy, whom Bounty respects, the Warlord dismissed the comparison. \u201cHe\u2019s [NBA] just a nice person, but he\u2019s an introvert.\u00a0 But Alkaline don\u2019t rate people.\u201d\u00a0 Bounty argued that Alkaline\u2019s refusal to acknowledge his influences \u2014 particularly Vybz Kartel \u2014 and his disrespectful lyrics have alienated him from the wider Dancehall community.<\/p>\n

\u201cAsk him who inspire him. Everybody has to have some inspiration. Unless you\u2019re a dead boy or a dead girl or you\u2019re a dead liar. He has to heard music somewhere. Something has to play in your head and then you start to hold on to that,\u201d Bounty said.<\/p>\n

When AK suggested that Alkaline was hesitant to admit\u00a0Vybz Kartel<\/a>\u2019s influence for fear of backlash from Kartel\u2019s fanbase, Bounty responded:\u00a0 \u201cHe don\u2019t want to say because\u2026 but don\u2019t act like there is not. You understand?\u201d<\/p>\n

Bounty said he further lost respect for Alkaline after he released lyrics that he deemed \u201cforbidden to the culture,\u201d referencing the 2014 track\u00a0F\u2014k You (2016)<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we disagree and dismiss it [the lyrics], he went out the way and to tell me \u201csuck my mother\u201d in my DM.\u00a0 If me hold him inna real life, him have to defend that.\u00a0 Me diss him pon me timeline and him go innna mi DM and tell mi \u2018suck mi mother\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n

Bounty contrasted Alkaline\u2019s attitude with the gratitude of artists like Masicka and others who show him \u201ctremendous respect\u201d. He emphasized that gratitude and humility are essential to greatness \u2014 qualities he believes Alkaline lacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose are sensible kids.\u00a0 They are the ones who are smart.\u00a0 They will always get ahead,\u201d he said. \u201cSome people will have glitches and bumps along the way, cause you see when you\u2019re ungrateful you can\u2019t be great.\u00a0 Only grateful people can be great.\u00a0 No ungrateful gal or boy, can have great.\u00a0 You nuh have no greatness bout yuh, so you\u2019re un-great-ful.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if he would accept an apology from Alkaline, Bounty dismissed the idea.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo he\u2019s not going to apologize.\u00a0 And me nuh want nobody apologize.\u00a0 It done what it done.\u00a0 What you did, it cyaan rub out.\u00a0 So all when you come and say nice words, it still nuh rub out.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also named Mr. Vegas and Lexxus [Mr. Lexx] among the few artists whose apologies he would never accept. \u201cThem chat too much,\u201d he said. \u201cThem nuh have no sense. A like three artists me nuh want see back inna life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, Bounty stressed that his issue is with people, not their music.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut me not issue with artist, it\u2019s just people cuz musically mi love everybody music. All the people weh mi nuh like.\u00a0 Cuz if them have great songs, I like music and I not going to put my ego and self in front of music. \u201c<\/p>\n
