He pays homage to his heroes on\u00a0<strong><em>\u2018Jah Cutta\u00a0Sings Gold,\u2019<\/em><\/strong> his 12th album which is scheduled for release in August by Be Rich Productions out of Montreal, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Jah Cutta, who has lived in that city for many years, recorded the songs at Tuff Gong studios in Kingston early this year with top musicians including bassist Lloyd Parks, guitarist Dwight Pinkney, keyboardist Robbie Lyn and saxophonist Dean Fraser.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u2018Pitta Patta\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u2018Tears on My Pillow\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>by Ernie Smith, are two of the songs\u00a0Jah Cutta\u00a0puts his spin on for <strong><em>\u2018Sings Gold\u2019<\/em><\/strong>. There are also covers of Otis Redding&#8217;s <strong><em>\u2018That&#8217;s How Strong my Love Is\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and Percy Sledge&#8217;s <strong><em>\u2018My Special Prayer\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>First release from the album is <strong><em>\u2018Pitta Patta,\u2019<\/em><\/strong> which came out in February.\u00a0Jah Cutta\u00a0said that Smith\u2019s 1972 song about rainy weather love has always been a favourite.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is a song that I always love, so I kept it as close to the original as possible,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Lyn worked on the original Pitta Patta and Tears on My Pillow which were recorded at Federal Records in Kingston, where Smith was a top artiste along with fellow singer Pluto Shervington.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u2018That&#8217;s How Strong my Love Is,\u2019<\/em><\/strong> the second release from\u00a0Jah Cutta\u00a0Sings Gold, will be out this month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Singer\u00a0Jah Cutta\u00a0had diverse musical tastes during his youth in St Thomas.
