Blending the rich heritage of reggae with unshakable faith, Sone G has emerged as one of the Caribbean’s most innovative and versatile voices in Gospel music.

Sone G’s musical journey was planted early in the fertile ground of Jamaican culture. Born and raised in Clarendon, he was immersed in the world of dancehall and reggae thanks to his family’s sound system—Turbo Sonic. As a child, he was often seen tagging along with his grandmother, Viola (Vie), to events where the sound system pulsated through the streets. These formative experiences laid a foundation of rhythm and lyrical expression that continues to echo through his music today.

Yet, it was his other grandmother, Glasmine, who planted the seeds of faith. Church attendance was a regular part of his upbringing, which ultimately led to his personal commitment to Christ in the summer of 1999 during his first year at Clarendon College. Known also for his athletic prowess, Sone G played football both for his school and for the parish of Clarendon before migrating to the United States after high school—a move that would propel his music ministry to new heights.

Settled in the USA, Sone G quickly began building a reputation for his electrifying performances and spiritually charged lyrics. He has shared the stage with Gospel greats like Tye Tribbett, Bridget Blucher-Simms, Sister Scully, and Sandra Brooks. Highlights include appearances at Sumr’ Fete 2018 alongside DJ Nicholas and performances at the Church of God Youth Convention in Orlando.

His earlier work as part of the Gospel duo PositivNRG earned him the 2008 Hopeton Lewis Music Award for Best New Artist and a feature on the acclaimed Next Level album, which included giants like Papa San, Shelly Thunder, and Nigel Lewis.

Beyond the mic, Sone G is a husband and father to three sons, a licensed minister in the Church of God, and a devoted servant of the Gospel. His ministry statement reflects a bold and holistic mission: “To impart the good news of Jesus and him crucified for all, which makes him savior of all. Heal the sick, raise the dead and reinforce the truth of the new man.”

It is this sense of purpose—infused with melody, scripture, and authentic Jamaican soul—that fuels his work and captivates his growing audience. Whether he’s singing to a congregation or a crowd, Sone G stands as a testament to what happens when cultural identity and spiritual calling move in harmony

From the rhythmic heartbeat of Clarendon, Jamaica, to stages across the United States and the Caribbean, Gospel Reggae Artiste Cecil Wilson, better known by his stage name Sone G, is redefining the boundaries of Christian music.
