Born into a world pulsing with music, Ijahiba was destined to leave a mark on the reggae scene. With a father who promoted concerts, sang, and operated his own sound system, music was more than background noise\u2014it was a way of life.<\/p>\n
Migrating to Canada in 2001, Ijahiba carried his culture and sound with him. \u201cI\u2019ve been singing since primary school,\u201d he recalls, \u201cbut I started taking the music seriously in 2006.\u201d That dedication led to his first recording in 2008, a standout track from his debut mixtape \u2018World Ina Stress\u2019<\/em>,<\/strong> released for the renowned Poison Dart Sound System. The project quickly gained traction, featured in several music magazines, and was a fan favorite in sound clashes.<\/p>\n Not one to rest on early success, Ijahiba followed up with a second mixtape in collaboration with the legendary Bass Odyssey sound system. His third mixtape took him to New York, working with Hot 97\u2019s Jabba and Bobby Konders\u2014heavyweights in NYC radio.<\/p>\n He then dropped \u2018Tuffras<\/em>,\u2019<\/strong> a back-to-back mixtape series that showcased his versatility and lyrical fire. Now, in 2025, fans are eagerly awaiting \u2018Tuffras\u2019<\/em><\/strong> Volume 3<\/em>. But the bigger headline? Ijahiba\u2019s long-anticipated debut EP, led by the emotionally charged single \u2018Journey<\/em>.\u2019<\/strong> \u201cIt reflects on the past,\u201d says Ijahiba, \u201cbut it’s a step into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2018Journey,\u2019<\/em><\/strong> which he co-wrote and co-produced, features production work by long-time collaborator Collin Sylex, whose instrumentation brings the song\u2019s message to life. The single is already making waves in reggae circles and sets the tone for what promises to be a defining release in Ijahiba\u2019s career.<\/p>\n Over the years, Ijahiba has earned press in Shadyville Caribbean<\/em>, The Jamaica Star<\/em>, The Jamaica Observer<\/em>, The Montreal Gazette<\/em>, and even national TV in Jamaica. On stage, he\u2019s shared the spotlight with giants like Glen Washington, Barrington Levy, Beenie Man, Elephant Man, and Gyptian. In Canada, he\u2019s rocked crowds at Montreal and Ottawa Reggae Festivals and performed on shows in Toronto.<\/p>\n Ijahiba is now a fully independent artist and a registered SOCAN member for over a decade.
