On one of his regular visits to HAMMA Records\u2019 studio in New York City many years ago, Cecil B The Artist recalls running into Josey Wales. The legendary deejay struck up what became a career-defining conversation with the aspiring artist.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2018Him sey, \u2018youth man, are you a singer?\u2019 When I said no, he encouraged me to start singing, \u2018and get all the girls\u2019,\u201d the New York-based vocalist related.<\/p>\n
It would be years before Cecil B The Artist took Josey Wales\u2019 advice. His first song, \u2018Too Much Violence in The Streets\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, was released in 2012; 13 years later saw the release of his second single, \u2018This Love\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 That track is produced by Ricky Myrie, who also directed Cecil B The Artist on \u2018Over the Hills\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, a cover of Luciano\u2019s 1997 hit for Xterminator Records.<\/p>\n He and Myrie have spent many hours recording songs for what Cecil B The Artist\u2019s first album will be, projected for release late this year. A video for \u2018This Love\u2019<\/em><\/strong> recently came out, with his version of \u2018Over the Hills\u2019<\/em><\/strong> scheduled for release in early May.<\/p>\n An airbrush artist by profession, Cecil B The Artist is from St. Mary parish in eastern Jamaica, where Josey Wales was born.
