It drops on April 12, recognized globally as Record Store Day.\u00a0 This marks the first time <strong><em>&#8216;One, Two&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> will be released in the United Kingdom, a strong market for dancehall music from that era.<\/p>\n<p>Produced by Winston Riley for his Techniques Records, <strong><em>&#8216;One, Two&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> contains <strong><em>&#8216;Bam Bam&#8217;<\/em><\/strong>, the hit song that defines Sister Nancy&#8217;s career. For the past 10 years, it has been used in advertisements by major brands such as Reebok, television shows like &#8216;The Interview&#8217; and sampled by acts including Jay Z and Kanye West.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The reissue of <strong><em>&#8216;One, Two&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> vinyl is a celebration of Sister Nancy\u2019s enduring legacy, the significance of Jamaican music and the timeless appeal of this classic reggae album,\u201d said Donovan Williams of VPAL Music.<\/p>\n<p>The success of <strong><em>&#8216;Bam Bam&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>&#8216;One, Two&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> paved the way for female deejays in the late 1980s, including Lady G, Shelly Thunder and Sister Charmaine.<\/p>\n<p>Sister Nancy, the younger sister of Brigadier Jerry, made a name on sound systems before launching her recording career with Riley, one of dancehall music&#8217;s top producers during the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>Record Store Day, which is held twice a year \u2014 April 12 and November 28 \u2014 acknowledges the contribution of independent record stores to the music industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VPAL Music will release a special red vinyl edition of &#8216;One, Two&#8217;, Sister Nancy\u2019s outstanding 1982 album.
