On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 8 PM, Lee\u2019s Palace will host <strong><em>Coptic\u2019s Journey to Recovery<\/em><\/strong>\u2014a heartfelt benefit concert dedicated to Dennis \u201cCoptic\u201d Reeves, a pioneering force in Toronto\u2019s reggae scene who is facing a life-threatening illness.<\/p>\n<p>For over four decades, Coptic has been a pillar of Toronto\u2019s reggae movement. As the co-founder of four influential bands and the visionary behind Coptic Sound Studio, his contributions to the genre have shaped Toronto\u2019s roots reggae landscape. A guitarist, producer, arranger, and mentor, Coptic\u2019s impact extends far beyond the stage\u2014his work has uplifted countless artists and enriched the city\u2019s cultural identity. Now, it\u2019s time for the community to give back to the man who has given so much.<\/p>\n<p>Organized by AMCHASEE, Kanrock TV, and High Energy (Coptic\u2019s band), this benefit concert is more than just a fundraiser\u2014it\u2019s a celebration of music, resilience, and unity. The event promises an unforgettable evening of top-tier reggae performances, special guest appearances, and a meaningful discussion on health and wellness.<\/p>\n<p>Despite undergoing weekly chemotherapy and battling constant pain, Coptic remains deeply connected to his music. Though he can no longer rehearse with his band due to low energy, his spirit remains unbreakable. \u201cIt\u2019s a blessing to have a supportive family and true friends,\u201d Coptic shares. \u201cThis has been a rough time, but music and good people around me strengthen me each day.\u201d He remains determined to keep creating, with plans to release several singles from <em>Coptic Sound Studio<\/em> this summer.<\/p>\n<p>The lineup for the evening is nothing short of spectacular, featuring veteran reggae musicians such as <em>The Mighty Mystics, Junior Miller, Mikey Melody, Zakious aka Mr. Cooper, and Roger Moore<\/em>, alongside emerging talent.
