Preferably an old school toaster.<\/p>\n<p>That slot went to Josey Wales, the self-proclaimed Colonel of dancehall music.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was my idea to cover the song. Josey liked the song when he heard it and he said, \u2018let\u2019s do it\u2019. Working with Josey was one in a million,\u201d said Gordon, who described their chemistry as \u2018blessed.\u201d Their collaboration has paid off, as <strong><em>\u2018Heart of Mine\u2019<\/em><\/strong> has got healthy radio coverage in Jamaica.<\/p>\n<p>This is Gordon\u2019s second crack at <strong><em>\u2018This Old Heart of Mine\u2019<\/em><\/strong>. His solo cover of the soul classic did well in Jamaica several years ago, as did <strong><em>\u2018Granny\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u2018Problems\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, two of his previous songs.<\/p>\n<p>Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Gordon has lived abroad for most of his life, first in Canada, then Detroit. He kept active musically in both locations while maintaining ties with Jamaica.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, most of his songs including the patriotic <strong><em>\u2018Rule the World\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>and <strong><em>\u2018I Second That Emotion\u2019<\/em><\/strong> have been done in Jamaica, where he has performed on shows such as the Dennis Brown Tribute in February.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When Clement \u201cJabba\u201d Gordon decided to cover The Isley Brothers\u2019 \u2018This Old Heart of Mine\u2019 (their version is \u2018Heart of Mine\u2019), he thought it would be cool to share the mic with a deejay.
