{"id":10272,"date":"2025-02-28T11:14:56","date_gmt":"2025-02-28T11:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sandbox.reggaenorthca.com\/?p=10272"},"modified":"2025-02-28T11:15:11","modified_gmt":"2025-02-28T11:15:11","slug":"wildfire-records-revisits-the-classics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sandbox.reggaenorthca.com\/?p=10272","title":{"rendered":"Wildfire Records Revisits the \u2018Classics\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wildfire Records out of Philadelphia has re-released two compilation albums on multiple digital platforms. <strong><em>\u2018Ready Fi Di World\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and \u2018The Best of Reggae Classics: Various Artists\u2019 were initially released in 2021 on compact disc, but Earl Messam, the company\u2019s president, believes the digital format will give them greater exposure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will touch the whole world; CDs were just available in stores. Now, everybody can have access to these albums and some great songs,\u201d said Messam.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u2018Ready Fi Di World\u2019<\/em><\/strong> contains 21 songs by a number of top artists including Dennis Brown, Luciano, Jah Cure and Alborosie. Well-known dancehall acts such as Jah Screw, Anthony Redrose, Mikey General and Doniki, as well as gospel singer Peter Brown, are also featured.<\/p>\n<p>Doniki, who died in 2016, recorded a number of songs for Wildfire Records. So did Peter Brown, who was killed in Jamaica in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Best of Reggae Classics\u2019 also has 21 songs with Doniki featured on seven of them. Queen Shanbam Empress, a Philadelphia-based singer, contributes nine songs to the set including two collaborations with veteran artist Roland Burrell, best known for the hit songs, <strong><em>\u2018Johnny Dollar\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u2018Stormy Night\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Messam, who is from Clarendon parish in rural Jamaica, started Wildfire Records shortly after migrating to the United States in the late 1980s.
