He is best known for <strong><em>\u2018Kette Drum\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, the 1995 hit song with Beenie Man.<\/p>\n<p>Tad Dawkins, principal of Tad\u2019s International Record, said Determine approached him 20 years ago about distributing the album.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was his idea. He visited the Miami office to check out the prospect for Tad&#8217;s Record to distribute his album and without hesitation I agreed,\u201d said Dawkins, who described the sound and texture of <strong><em>\u2018Mi Go Through Dat\u2019<\/em><\/strong> as \u201cexcellent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The album includes songs like <strong><em>\u2018Go Through Dat\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>\u2018Down the Lane\u2019<\/em><\/strong> (a collaboration with Cocoa Tea and Cudjoe Rubber),<em> <strong>\u2018Nice to Love\u2019<\/strong><\/em>, <strong><em>\u2018Weep Not\u2019<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>\u2018Live Up\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, which he recorded with Louie Culture and Lucan I.<\/p>\n<p>Determine hailed from Annotto Bay, a seaside town in rural St. Mary parish in eastern Jamaica. <strong><em>\u2018Kette Drum\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, produced by Bobby Digital was his third released song. It sailed to the top of the charts 30 years ago along with other songs on the catchy Nyahbinghi \u2018riddim\u2019 of the same title.<\/p>\n<p>It produced other hit songs by Cocoa Tea <strong><em>(\u2018Holy Mount Zion\u2019)<\/em><\/strong> and Buju Banton <strong><em>(\u2018Til I\u2019m Laid to Rest\u2019)<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A remastered version of \u2018Mi Go Through Dat\u2019, the 2005 album by roots artist Determine, will be re-released on March 21 by Tad\u2019s International Record, the company that released it 20 years ago.
